Molesley Has His Say On The 1-1 Draw Away At Scunthorpe United

SOUTHEND manager Mark Molesley spoke to the official website and had the following to say on his sides 1-1 draw away at Scunthorpe.

On the late equaliser…

It feels exactly like a defeat. It was a disastrous end to the game for us. A game that we have done more than enough to win, again, and they’ve scored with their only shot on target in the game.

We had enough bodies to defend and deal with that situation. We’ve dealt with it so well all game and have done well in those situations.

They’re saying it’s a cruel ricochet, it went through about two players’ legs on the way in and fell to their man who dispatched it, but we’ve got to defend that better and organise better. In such a critical game, time and again we’ve failed to do that and have been punished.

On a missed opportunity…

It was the same against Stevenage and against Oldham where we end up drawing games we should win.

A couple of the games earlier on in that run too we probably should have drawn which we’ve lost and we haven’t picked up the points, which is why we find ourselves where we are.

On the run-in…

The games are slipping through our fingers and we’ve got to make every one of them count.

We fluffed our lines today. Unfortunately, it was a repeat of last Saturday against Stevenage and we’ve got to be big, strong and brave now.

We’ve got make every game count.
