A Southend United side now managed by former Shrimpers manager Phil Brown held out for a 0-0 draw with Crawley Town at Roots Hall this afternoon.

The Shrimpers shared a spoil of the many chances at Roots Hall with the best effort for the hosts coming from a Nathan Ferguson strike which hurtled towards and against the post just after half-time.

Crawleys best chance came in the first half via James Tilley who saw his effort denied on the line by Tyler Cordner.

The Shrimpers remain in the relegation spots 4 points from safety with 5 games remaining including an Essex derby away at fellow relegation rivals Colchester United coming a week Tuesday.
