It’s Essex Derby Time This Tuesday Night

IT’s Essex derby time this Tuesday night as Southend United visit Colchester United at the JobServe Community Stadium

IT’s Essex derby time this Tuesday night as Southend United visit Colchester United at the JobServe Community Stadium to battle for the pride of Essex and more importantly for Southend United three points towards possible but unlikely survival from relegation to the National League.

Southend are on the verge of relegation out of the English Football League and this could be confirmed on Tuesday night should they suffer a defeat at the hands of their Essex rivals. The Shrimpers are 6 points behind the U’s (although if you take into account goal difference it’s more like 7) and just 1 point in front of rock bottom Grimsby Town.

Including this fixture, just 4 games remain of the 2020/21 EFL season.

Timothee Dieng
May or may not be fit for this fixture following a hamstring injury picked up against Crawley Town a few weeks prior.

Ricky Holmes
Holmes could be a doubt for this fixture as the veteran left the field holding the base of his spine this past Saturday away at Exeter City.

Tom Clifford
Had to withdraw from the squad moments before kick-off on Saturday having taken a knock during the warm-up so much remains to be seen on the fitness of Clifford.
