THE news that many Southend United fans had been dreading for the past few months has all but come to fruition tonight, following a 2-0 victory for Barrow over Forest Green Rovers tonight Southend United are all but relegated.
The Shrimpers will be playing their football in the National League next season for the first time in the club’s history following no less than 3 woeful seasons over the past few years.
A 2-0 win for Barrow secured their Football League status for another season.
The Essex-based side is 6 points behind Scunthorpe United with just two games left in the campaign.
The Shrimpers will need a dramatic eight-goal swing in their remaining matches if they are to stand any chance of catching the Iron and staying up.Chris Phillips
