Josh Coulson Puts Pen To Paper At Roots Hall

SOUTHEND United have completed the signing of former Leyton Orient defender Josh Coulson.

Coulson joins the Shrimpers on a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months and becomes Phil Brown’s second signing of the summer as the club prepares for National League football.

Speaking to the official site Coulson said the following.

I won this league a couple of years ago with Justin Edinburgh at Leyton Orient and through the play-offs at Cambridge, so I’ve got a bit of experience and I look to bring that.

Hopefully that helps the team be successful.

I met the manager at the training ground, we spoke about what he’s looking to do and it’s very much what I like to be part of.

He likes his older players to lead by example so I’m looking forward to that.

It feels like a fresh start for the club and with the gaffer coming in towards the end of last season, unfortunately it was a bit too late to stay up.

It’s going to be a tough season, but it will be good to see some fans back in the stadiums as well.
