Match Report: Boreham Wood (H)

Three goals inside 25 first-half minutes set Southend on their way to three points this afternoon against Boreham Wood at Roots Hall.

Gus Scott-Morriss opened the scoring inside just seven minutes before Morton got onto the end of a Danny Waldron cross to head home and give Waldron his second assist of the day having played a part in the opener.

Seven minutes later it was three goals to nil as Scott-Morriss saw his cross only cleared as far as Jack Bridge who did well to bring the ball under control and fire home.

Just three minutes after the break Boreham Wood pulled a goal back but just on the stroke of 60 minutes, it was a Jack Bridge penalty that restored the Shrimper’s three-goal advantage.

The final goal of the game came just three minutes after the penalty via Matt Robinson

It’s now 13 games unbeaten for Mahers Shrimpers who remain 10th in the National League standings.
